چکیده

This paper presents a prediction of the millimeterwave multipath propagation characteristics in the typical urban environment. To analyze the propagation in an outdoor environment, the three dimensional model based on the geometrical optics and the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction is employed. Prediction by the three dimensional ray tracing method needs a detailed map, which records locations and shapes of obstacles surrounding a transmitter and a receiver. It is usually difficult to create a complete map because tremendous data is necessary to describe the area structure. We propose, in this report, a three dimensional propagation model to predict the millimeter wave propagation characteristics by using the information available from only a map on the market. This approach gives us much convenience in the actual design. The modeled results are demonstrated and furthermore comparison are made between the simulated results and the experimental data. key words: millimeter wave, power delay profile, propagation modeling, 3D ray tracing, uniform geometrical theory of diffraction

Propagation Prediction Model for Land Mobile Communication in Microcellular Environment

The propagation channel is the principal contributor to many of the problems and limitations that degrades the performance of mobile radio systems. One obvious example is multipath propagation which is a major characteristic of the mobile radio channels, which severely affects the performance of digital systems by reducing the carrier-to-interference ratio. Thus accurate characterization of the...

Propagation Prediction Models

To implement a mobile radio system, wave propagation models are necessary to determine propagation characteristics for any arbitrary installation. The predictions are required for a proper coverage planning, the determination of multipath effects as well as for interference and cell calculations, which are the basis for the high-level network planning process. In a GSM/DCS-system the high-level...
